VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Organization: Habitat For Humanity Nepal

Habitat Nepal invites applications from highly qualified candidates for the following position to be fulfilled at Habitat for Humanity Nepal.

Position: Architect

Number of Vacancies: 1

Responsible to design buildings that are functional, safe and sustainable, develop technical documents and manuals and provide basic hands-on construction training and research. S/he is also responsible for developing work plans and taking a construction project from concept to completion.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for construction research and development of appropriate technologies, and support in construction-related training

• Ensure that Habitat Nepal construction designs meet Habitat for Humanity Housing Quality

• Standards and/or appropriate government building codes and regulations

• Ensure construction research, support in the preparation of BOQs, designs, layouts, construction/maintenance manuals

• Responsible for delivering or support to quality construction-related training as per DUDBC curriculum or any other curriculum as per request

• Provide technical support for Global Village (GV) build implementation, and works in close coordination with the Program team and other GV staff

• Contribute to program development and strategy as well as provides support in the review and analysis of the program model

Provide analytical support for training design and proposal writing and research

• As part of the technical unit of program department, participate in the departmental planning and coordinate with other departments

• Support and work in coordination with other NGOs working in the selected implementation areas, and participates in the district, municipality, community-level meetings/workshops

Other related duties as assigned by direct supervisor

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

• Fluent in Nepali and English language (reading, writing and speaking)

• MS Office, AutoCAD/Sketch Up, In Design and Photoshop

• Good Facilitation, communication and writing skills

• Good Interpersonal skills and intercultural sensitivity

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION, PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture

• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience

• Professional License from Nepal Engineering Council

• Previous non-profit / development sector experience will be an advantage

OTHER INFORMATION

Duration: Through December 2020 (Extendable if funding and need permits)

Location: Habitat Head Office, Sanepa, Nepal

Reports to: Housing & Construction Technologies Manager

Field Visits: Frequent travel to project areas
