Position Title: National Director

No. of Vacancy: 1

Location: National Office, Lalitpur

Key Responsibilities: The National Director will strategically lead, develop and direct the implementation of all aspects of World Vision’s ministry in Nepal, ensure the overall management of WVIN operation, need to be an effective leader locally and effective member of the partnership, acting as a local and global representative of the organization. The ND will lead the team to achieve the country strategies for effective operations. lead and implement directional shifts of the organization. He/She will ensure the country’s operations maintain the Partnership’s focus on Child Well Being Outcomes and Aspirations, as they apply in that specific context, maximizing the impact in the field. The ND will collaborate effectively with other Partnership Offices and divisions to achieve local and organizational goals. and externally foster collaboration with major donors, project partners. Government and Non-governmental organizations, serving according to given Power of Attorney. in doing so. the ND will maximise stewardship. effectiveness of cost and appropriate operating models. The ND will model high standard of personal Servant leadership, ministry and integrity through lifestyle and work relationships to be fine exemplar of the organization’s Vision. Mission and WV Core Values.

Suitable candidates for this position should possess:

Proven work experience in development sector and/or humanitarian context, especially with program and/or country program management and staff management; Strong leadership and staff management skills. with a record of managing large, diverse teams and contributing to the capacity building of national and international staff;A demonstrated and solid track record in managing effective programmes and field operations work from a World Vision context preferably; Experience to establish, develop and maintain excellent working relations with the Government and ability to strengthen relationships with local organizations and networks and alliances with partners; Experience with projects designing and strategic planning; A deep and broad understanding of business operations within World Vision is preferred; Demonstrated track record in resource development including proposal development, creating and managing donor relations, and grant management for major government donors preferred; Experience in Emergency response, planning, and develop of emergency response plans and programmes would be a plus; Excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivity;Ability to strengthening relationships with Government and donors: Knowledge/experience of the region and understanding of local context in Nepal is a significant advantage: Mature, well-balanced personality able to work independently in a challenging environment; Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation and administrative abilities:A high ability in interpersonal skills with sound experience and ability to function well in a cross cultural environmen


Position Title: Disaster Risk Reduction Specialist

No. of Vacancy: 1

Location: National Office, Lalitpur

Key Responsibilities: The purpose of this position is to provide technical leadership across all WVIN’s Disaster Risk Reduction programming. and to lead the implementation of WVIN’s Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) project across all working WVIN Districts, and ensure WVIN’s annual KPIs and targets related to DRR are achieved. The objective of the DRR project is to facilitate development and effective implementation of local disaster risk management plans to promote community based disaster management initiatives aiming to increase the resilience of children, communities, as well as local government officials to be better prepared for and able to respond to natural hazards. He/She will proactively lead on establishing and implementing capacity building plans to ensure WVIN’s Field and PNGO staff have the necessary skills and tools to implement the DRR project and to ensure the organizational capacity to respond the local level disaster. Similarly. the role is responsible for developing all tools. templates. protocols and resources necessary for WVIN’s Field staff and PNGOs to effectively implement the DRR project. mainstream DRR into sector programs, and achieve the organisation’s DRR KPIs.The role is also responsible for contributing to project design and resource acquisition to expand WVIN’s DRR work,The Disaster Risk Reduction Specialist position will also manage relationships with external DRR partnersinetworks and works in close coordination with the government and stakeholders and WVIN field offices.

Minimum Qualification and Experience required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Disaster Management or any DRR related discipline (Masters Preferred) with 4 years of work experience of field experience in managing DRR related projects or programming in the field or headquarters of a major NGO, INGO, or government department; High level of practical knowledge on local disaster risk management planning process; Practical knowledge in Community Based Disaster Risk Management; Good knowledge of development work and humanitarian emergencies in low resource context; Experience in the preparation of teaching material and tools; Familiarity with development theory. community based disaster management. DRM frameworks: Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment; Strong experience and recognized expertise in models and methods of training, facilitation and capacity building, and organizational development for staff and communities; Excellent oral and written English & Nepali; Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including use of Microsoft Office; Ready to take initiatives and willing to work under pressure and exhibit a high level of flexibility; Hold a high level of integrity and honesty, self-motivated, confident, and able to work independently; Strategic, creative, and innovative thinking with decision making and problem solving skills; Good understanding of humanitarian Sector.
