The UTS Application Integration Team is actively recruiting a Solution Designer to join the team to deliver innovative technology solutions across web, application and mobile development, and integration services for corporate systems and application platforms.

As the Solution Designer, you will be responsible for collaborating with UTS subject matter experts in various technology domains to ensure that the technical direction of new projects is appropriate for UTS.

You will guide, design, and document the complete overall technical solution in keeping with existing architectural standards and technology strategies whilst focusing on supporting the University’s business functions.

Main duties/responsibilities:

  • Formulate solutions for solving complex issues in the core applications and integration services across complex integrations using service orientated solutions
  • Provide technical and architecture design for improving core systems across UTS
  • Provide cloud based integration solutions, leveraging existing integration assets developed using IBM IIB.
  • Assist / lead in system architecture design as required
  • Provide solutions and enhancement for applications to ensure high availability, reusability, flexibility and scalability and integration technical leadership
  • Research and provide technical advice to senior management on new technologies to enhance IT services, reduce costs and improve business enablement and automation
  • Design and improve API web services components including XML, WSDL, SOAP, REST to ensure optimal utilisation of resources
  • Communicate with the owners of the various IT components of the solution such as SOA, ESB integration, infrastructure, BI, reporting, development methodologies etc.

Main skills/experience required:

  • Demonstrated ability to create, implement and manage end to end solution design and architecture for systems and complex application and solution design integrations
  • Solid understanding of integration patterns and industry standard practices like restful API, SOAP based web services and business process management. Demonstrated experience on experience on service oriented architecture.
  • Solid understanding of cloud based integration platforms like, MuleSoft, DELL Boomi or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in service/API identification will be advantageous.
  • TOGAF Certified or equivalent Solution Design and Application Architecture experience is must
  • Languages including Javascript, PHP, HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3, JAVA, C/C++, Python


Base Salary Range: A attractive and competitive remuneration package will be offered.

This role attracts 9.5% superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.

This appointment will be on a fixed term, full-time basis for a period of 12 months
